Another new co-op is forming in Delaware for Fall 2008: Blessed Jose’ Luis Academy
Mission
The mission of Blessed Jose’ Luis Academy is to provide a home schooling educational cooperative that integrates Catholic spirituality with academic, human and apostolic development for each child, and practical tools to continue this formation at home. It will establish an orderly, creative learning environment, which encourages growth in Christ’s virtues, especially charity, in both children and their parents.
Vision
The vision of Blessed Jose’ Luis Academy is to raise strong Catholic leaders who will actively pursue the unique missions given to them by Christ at baptism.

The UU Community Homeschool Co-op
The UUCH is an inclusive, secular homeschool co-op meeting in Newark, Delaware and serving the surrounding homeschool communities of Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. The co-op meets one afternoon each week for classes and offers optional events — field trips, park days, parent outings, etc. — throughout the month.
Our vision at UUCH is to foster friendships and a sense of community for our children and ourselves within the larger homeschool populace; to provide diverse, enriching and educational programs for our children in an accepting and safe environment; and to create a sense of connection by offering regular meetings and activities.
The UUCH co-op is inclusive and as such is home to a rich and varied group of children and adults from different backgrounds and with varied beliefs and abilities. We at UUCH value the inherent worth and dignity of every person and ask that posts to the group reflect this principle.
If you would like more information about our group please email the moderator. Group membership is for registered co-op families only. Please email the moderator to be added to a separate email list for co-op updates for Fall 2008.
My name is Rachel Starr Thomson. I’m a homeschool graduate, the oldest of twelve kids, and an author. My cousin Carolyn Currey and I have written a book of essays and memories entitled “Tales of the Heartily Homeschooled,” about growing up large, lively, and homeschooled! A chapter from our book has been published in the Spring Issue of The Old Schoolhouse Magazine.
To help kick off promotion (and encourage other young writers), we’re running a writing contest for homeschool kids ages 8-18. We’re looking for the favorite memories of other young people who are growing up the way we did!
We’d like to invite the readers of DelawareHomeschool.org to participate in our contest. There is no entry fee, and winners will receive an autographed copy of our new book, along with publication in our newsletter and on our publisher Web site, LittleDozen.com. The entry deadline is May 1. We’d be thrilled if you would share this contest information with your members.
For your convenience, I’ve included more info below, on both the contest and on “Tales of the Heartily Homeschooled.” You’re welcome to print or quote this info directly. If you’d like to know more, feel free to contact me!
Blessings!
Rachel
