Take your pick of great freelancers!

Posted by admin on April 29, 2010

If you’re looking to start up any sort of internet enterprise you there are many things you need to consider before you get the ball rolling. You need to consider all aspects of the work you are hoping to carry out, and then you need to decide how you are going to carry out the work. A lot of people think that because they are working online, they will be able to deal with all of the ins and outs of getting a site up and running, but to have a successful business online, you need to monitor, change and add to your site constantly.

It’s probably unrealistic to think that you can do this all on your own. This leaves you with the decision of how you will find the right people to work with you. Some people are lucky enough to actually know someone who is suitable to help them, and this relies of course on that persons ability to agree with you a mutually beneficial way of working together. The problem I have with employing people I know is that you generally need to give them full time work, or at the very least, a great package to compensate them for irregular work.

The best thing I ever did was to discover that there were freelancers available online, who were willing to get stuck into nearly any work that you needed doing. I found a great site which advertised hundreds of freelance workers and there was information about their previous work and most of them had great references too. This meant that I got a good worker, with history in the business which reassured me. I’d love to be able to work with friends, but being able to pick the perfect person for the job everytime is just too good an opportunity to miss!

Finding the Right Course for me.

When I went to University I think I was too young to really understand what I wanted to do in life. I chose to study a mathematics degree but after a year and a half I dropped out, because I just wasn’t motivated enough to do the work required to continue in the course. To be honest I found it so boring it hurt my brain! It took a lot of courage to drop out of that course, and in a way I wish that I had had the foresight to see that, although I had a gift for Mathematics, me and a mathematical degree just didn’t mix well.

After University I had to find work so I trained up with a friend of mine who was working as an electrician. This wasn’t exactly what I had had in mind as a career but it certainly brought in money I desperately needed. It also meant that I could start to save up enough money to start to do some distance courses in some subjects I was actually interested in.

After a year of working I had more than enough money – particularly as the company I was hoping to study through allowed me study from home in a distance learning format. Kaplan had such an enormous range of courses on offer that I really had my pick of anything I fancied. In the end I decided to study for a science based degree which could help to forward and progress my career as an electrician. It’s funny how just a little bit of life experience can show you what you are really interested in! When I started the job I was filled with trepidation, but by now I had a real skill, and one that I wanted to better, and Kaplan allowed me to do that.
