Do you feel University of Phoenix is a school of the future?

Posted by admin on June 26, 2009
I often think that the time has arrived for colleges such as the University of Phoenix as this relates to the growing trend of adult higher education in environments suitable for adult learners. As the growing need for individuals to work beyond retirement, or upgrade their credentials and who have proven their abilities as a result of years of professional experience; former academics and the impression they show in interviewing for admission, leads me to believe institutions of higher learning suitable for adult learners are becoming increasingly in demand. For example, as a result of Phoenix pioneering the concept of adult learning, online-training and learning teams, practically all traditional colleges have included this format in their academics, realizng that the need for adult learning environments enables them to remain competative in a highly competative market.

Have you taken a college or adult education class since graduation? Why or why not?

Posted by admin on May 22, 2009
Society tells us we should always be learning but it seems few people will enter a class room after the day of high school or college graduation.

How about you, have you been in a class room since you graduated from high school or college? Why or why not?

How do I think like an adult?

Posted by admin on March 17, 2009
I am actually an adult, I 23. I’ve been a stay at home mom for 3 years, so I am completely in toddler mode 24/7. And have been for a really long time. I’ve gone back to school for medical billing, and it’s a lot of memorization. I can’t get myself to think like an adult, and It’s really hard for me to learn anything in my studies. I haven’t failed a test or anything, but it takes me forever to learn the stuff. I’m home schooled so I can’t turn to a teacher or anything. I’ve tried the brain age game, and sudoku. I just think too much like my 2 year old. But she can comprehend things much faster than I can. My husband is no help, he just gets mad when I ask for help, because he doesn’t know how to help me. Is there a really good vitamin that helps with memory? I really need to get my schooling done. Help!

I have an adult in my class that just can’t seem to understand math, How do I help her? Is there a program?

Posted by admin on December 22, 2008
I find myself explaining over and over math problems, then the next day this woman comes back and gets help with the same things I’ve just taught her. I know she’s sincere and I’ve spent many hours helping her, but she’s having a lot of problems, Yes she’s got add and has a learning disability. She’s trying to get through college, and math is her problem, got any ideas?

how hard is it and how long will it take to learn guitar as an adult?

Posted by admin on June 30, 2008
Im totally in love with music, mainly rock and metal. I really want to learn how to play guitar. I’m 24. I tried once when i was 23 and I took lessons from may to december and learned all the strings and one chord. Not much. (my guitar teacher was forgetful and taught me the same things over and over again). I want to try again, and get a dvd or something and teach myself but is it harder for an adult to learn an instrument? How long will it take to get really good if I practice every night?. Also. my super sweet guitar teacher told me that I had fat fingers and that’d make it harder. Although his fingers were about twice the size of mine so that proved to me that its doable even with fat fingers.

How does an adult learn to ride a bike by herself, and without training wheels? What kind of a bike needed?

Posted by admin on March 23, 2008
I moved to Netherlands 4 months ago and I really feel like a loser because everyone is cycling! My boyfriend advised me to do so. Now, I have a second hand bike. I try to learn to cycle myself but I can’t continue paddling after two times. When I try a third step I can’t stop the bike from falling.

Also, it is hard for me because I think the bike is too tall for me. Yet, everyone told me this bike would work well for me. I mean, when I sit on it, my feet don’t touch the ground, not even a little bit. I have to start cycling (or let’s say paddling desperately but not achieving) near a pavement to get support. It seems impossible for me to start cycling on a flat surface with nowhere to take support. Am I making just a big deal out of this or do I need to buy (at least try and find) a smaller bike.

I don’t want to wait for people to get back from work and help me. And I don’t want to use training wheels as I think that would stop me from learning to keep my balance myself.
