Some people claim that the English language is one of the hardest languages to learn in the world, but resent research has rubbished this claim. It is true that there are some very important and at times quite complex rules to be learned about the language, and the language also has one of the highest word counts in all of the languages, but despite this, it should be a reasonably easy language to learn.
The truth is that there are a lot of things that you can do for yourself in order to master this language far quicker than most people would believe to be possible. First of all you have to get into the habit of reading all the time. Of course and professionally written literature is going to stand you in good stead, but perhaps some of the modern classics will help you more than anything else, because they have been written beautifully whilst using modern language which will help you in terms of day to day purposes.
Beyond this sort of home help, you should be making an effort to actively learn the language, and there is a great website online called englishsoftware.org. This site can really help to take you to the next level of the English language with its fantastic software packages. You will be able to get your hands on some fantastic English language software which will help you to get to grips with the finer points of the language. On top of this, there is also some great English software which will take you to the next level also.
This software will help you to be able to master this difficult language in double quick time, and if you supplement it with your own reading, then you are going to be confident in the English language in no time!

I am an Aussie English teacher in China and I want to use English songs as a tool for teaching English to Chinese teenagers & adult students. I need songs that are slow & clear, with good English grammar in the lyrics.
If you have any experience using Western music as an English teaching tool in China, or you know of any popular English language songs or artists, I would greatly appreciate your suggestions!
Thank you.

Well, my current English teacher said that he “hated to admit that AP Lit. is more fun than AP Language”.
What is the big difference? Is AP Lit credit less likely to be accepted in colleges?

The English language is made up of several other different languages, so how can a language that is already a bastard language be bastardized?

Say you lived in 1897, What English language books would you a respectable collector have in his collection?
Wow, very helpful already, but in answer, the collector would actually be an extremely wealthy non englishman seeking to learn as much about english language and culture prior to moving to London. more importantly, the discoverer of the library is an englishman who is suprised and impressed to find so many english language books in a foriegn home library.
