English Language?

Posted by admin on July 17, 2008
I’ve been told that English sounds like barking dogs, and I have always wondered what it would sound like if I couldn’t understand it. Ive heard that German sounds similar to the untrained ear, but is there any other Germanic language that you can’t tell apart from English??? Or is German the closest?

Germanic languages are classified into East (representing Gothic, which is extinct), North (Icelandic, Faroese, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish), and West (English, Frisian, German and all its dialects, Plattdeutsch, Dutch and Flemish).

The Western ones are of course most similar-sounding to German.

Anyone can bark in any language: that reflects only the person’s attitude.

It does not affect the original beauty of the language.
