How is it possible for English to have been bastardized when it was a bastard language to begin with?

The English language is made up of several other different languages, so how can a language that is already a bastard language be bastardized?

The language originally spoken in England was Brithonic, a Celtic language very similar to Welsh. The Latins moved in and the Bretons borrowed some words for things they could not otherwise relate to. Then there were the Anglo-Saxons and more word were borrowed. After them came the Norman French.

However, theirs was not the only language to be diluted in this way. Every language on the globe contains borrowed words that have come into common usage. So all languages are bastardized in one way or another.
