If I am going to be home tutored/schooled?

…and I pay for a tutor to come out and visit me, say they tutored me in GCSE maths and science so I could get a better GCSE result, how would I be certified for this, as in how would I have a certificate to say I achieved a grade ‘whatever’ for maths and a grade ‘whatever’ for science? Would I need to go back to school, or take a year in college to resit maths and science, or would the tutor give me one, r would they enter me into an exam for it?
I don’t know how it works, but I think I am going to start this soon.

You normally have to arrange it with a local school that you can sit the exam there when their pupils are doing them.

You would be tutored outside of school, in your own time.
As you know, exams are held in May/June, so you would be entered into the exam with your nearest or old school.
Hopefully, you would be up to date with the work, and so your tutor would give consent that they have tutored you in the subject area, and agree that you are ready to take the exam.

Whoever teaches you would need to find a registered centre to take the exams, or you could contact individual examination boards to discuss the arrangements.
You will have to pay for any exam registration fees and assessment of coursework, by an accredited person.
If you contact Newcastle Adult Community Education they can help and advise you, some ACEs do one to one lessons ( normally for clients who are disabled) small group classes in local community centres, libraries, youth centres and other public buildings.
Essential skills Maths is free and you would be assessed to see which level you are then taught ( normally in very small groups of 3 -9 people….depends on the funding ACE have if they will do one to one)
ACE can also help with finding accredited course tutors
The other place is EGSA ( Education Guidance Service for Adults) its free, you can phone or register online and get advice about what you need, costs, who to contact etc
