You need to consider all aspects of the work you are hoping to carry out, and then you need to decide how you are going to carry out the work. A lot of people think that because they are working online, they will be able to deal with all of the ins and outs of getting a site up and running, but to have a successful business online, you need to monitor, change and add to your site constantly.
It’s probably unrealistic to think that you can do this all on your own. This leaves you with the decision of how you will find the right people to work with you. Some people are lucky enough to actually know someone who is suitable to help them, and this relies of course on that persons ability to agree with you a mutually beneficial way of working together. The problem I have with employing people I know is that you generally need to give them full time work, or at the very least, a great package to compensate them for irregular work.
The best thing I ever did was to discover that there were freelancers available online, who were willing to get stuck into nearly any work that you needed doing. I found a great site which advertised hundreds of freelance workers and there was information about their previous work and most of them had great references too. This meant that I got a good worker, with history in the business which reassured me. I’d love to be able to work with friends, but being able to pick the perfect person for the job everytime is just too good an opportunity to miss!
