What good careers exist for a student of Mathematics?

Posted by admin on December 30, 2009
I have a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science, so I took A LOT of math classes, including; Theory of Mathematics, Calculus !, !! & !!!, etc. I don’t like programming and I was wondering what good careers are there in Mathematics, besides teaching ( i would love to teach, but i didn’t take any teaching classes).
Do you need additional training for jobs like actuary. Would I have to go back to school? I have 2 minors also (including Mathematics), I don’t want to go back to school. :)

maths is a very respected background for most professions becuase its about how you think and can abstract / analyse complex problems.

assuming you also have good communication and presentation skills, accountancy should be an interesting choice that opens the door into a number of specialisms or into general management.

Consider actuarial work. Actuaries have been voted one of the five best jobs in America for many years by the Jobs Rated Almanac.
