What’s the difference between AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature?

Well, my current English teacher said that he “hated to admit that AP Lit. is more fun than AP Language”.
What is the big difference? Is AP Lit credit less likely to be accepted in colleges?

Interestingly enough, I am currently taking a course called AP English Literature and Composition, so kind of an amalgamation of the two. However, on my report card, this comes up as 3 different classes: AP English Literature and Composition, English Literature 12 and English 12.
The university that I am applying to seems to have both AP English Literature and Composition and AP English Language and Composition, yet when I self-admitted my grades I believe my choices were English 12 and English Literature 12 and AP English Literature (w/o) the ‘Composition.’
Confusing, yes.
Looking at sample AP Enlish Language and Composition exams, they seem to be more opinion based free responses compared to the AP English Literature and Composition exams which are more analytical towards literature and literary techniques. So that may be the difference there. However, if there is just an AP Literature class, I would assume that it would be like English Literature 12 in which the focus is on specific writers and poems and the ability to recognize and analyze both.
So essentially, no AP Lit should not be less recognized by colleges, however, if you are planning on going into a specific post secondary school, you should check which AP program they accept or if they even accept them at all and base your decision on wether or not you really want to go to that particular school, or if you want to learn literary techniques or language/opinion writing techniques.
I hope I cleared something up for you, even if I may have confused myself more…
